Update an Existing Mapping

Step 1: Open the Saved Mapping

  • Navigate to the Impowr tab in Salesforce.
  • Upload the updated template file.
  • Click on Import to Salesforce on the tile.
  • Choose the correct Master/Detail object(s) for the mapping you wish to edit.
  • Under Load Mapping find and select the name of the mapping you wish to edit.
  • Press Next to continue to edit the mapping.

Note: A mapping will only be available in the org it was originally created in. If it was created in a Sandbox which has now been refreshed, it is possible the original mapping will no longer be accessible for editing. In this scenario, recreate the mapping and re-activate it by creating or updating the Mapping Template record.

Step 2: Edit the Mapping

  • Once a Mapping is loaded you are able to press Next and skip through to whichever stage needs editing.
  • You can change the Import Settings, Import Type, Matching Conditions, Mapping Fields or Constant Values. Refer to the mapping creation documentation if needed.
  • Once you have made all the necessary changes, go to the final stage.
  • Press Save to update the mapping in the Impowr app.

Step 3: Fetch the Updated Mapping JSON

  • Select Preferences at the top of the Impowr tab.
  • Scroll down and locate the Mapping List section.
  • Identify the mapping that has been edited.
  • Select View JSON.
  • A modal will appear containing the JSON needed to activate the mapping.
  • Press the Copy icon to place the JSON on your clipboard.

Step 4: Updating the Mapping Template Record

  • Use the Salesforce App Launcher to navigate to Mapping Templates.
  • On the list view, find and select the name of the Mapping Template record that need to be updated.

Note: you can also create a new Mapping Template record and update the File Import Component to reference the new mapping.

  • Select the Edit icon next to Mapping (JSON).
  • Replace the JSON by deleting the existing text and paste the updated version from your clipboard.
  • Select Save to update the mapping template.

This will have updated the Mapping Template that is currently used in the File Import Components, so now any uploaded files will follow the updated mapping process.
