Import a File

With the Import File Component added to a Lightning Page and an activated Mapping Template selected, you’re ready to run a test import to make sure everything works end‑to‑end. Use any file that matches the Mapping Template and contains at least a single example record.

Step 1: Upload a File

  • Navigate to a page where the Import File (Impowr) component is placed.
  • Inside the component, click Upload Files and choose your file with the file explorer – or – drag and drop the file directly onto the component.
  • A modal will appear tracking the file upload. Once the upload is complete, a green tick appears.
  • Click Done to confirm.

Step 2: Watch the Import Progress Indicator

The component displays real‑time status updates through the following stages:

  • Pending – file accepted and queued
  • Processing – data validation underway
  • Importing – records are being inserted or updated
  • Done – import complete
  • When the status reaches Done, the test import is complete. A summary of the job will be displayed under Results.
  • If the file uploaded does not contain the required data that matches the mapping, an error will be shown in the component notifying the user.

Note: Once the component has been tested as an administrator, it is important to test the component as the end user that the component is designed for. This will highlight any issues such as missing permissions. The component will run as the executing user, as a result, the CRUD and FLS permission to the destination object will need to be provided.
